Climate disaster predictions

After giving a talk to the York Interfaith Group yesterday (1st October) on the Urantia Book and the Life of Jesus ( a free pdf of the slides that I used is below), I feel called to research the predictions made by Al Gore and others about a global climate disaster (fear mongering).

Here is summary taken directly from the web (brave search)

"Al Gore Climate Predictions

Based on the provided search results, here is a summary of Al Gore’s predictions and statements regarding climate change:

  1. Kilimanjaro Snows: Gore predicted in his 2006 documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” that there would be no more snows on Mount Kilimanjaro within a decade. However, the mountain still receives measurable snowfall to this day.

  2. Glacier National Park: Gore also predicted that the glaciers in Glacier National Park would disappear by 2015. However, the park’s glaciers have not melted as quickly as predicted, and some still exist.

  3. Sea Levels: Gore predicted that sea levels would rise by 20 feet “in the near future.” However, according to NASA, the global sea level has risen by 8-9 inches since 1880, and at a rate of 3.8 inches per decade between 1993-2021. This means it would take approximately 1,136 years for the world’s sea level to rise 20 feet at this rate.

  4. Arctic Ice Caps: Gore predicted that the North Pole would be ice-free by summer 2013. However, this claim misrepresents his statement, which was attributed to researchers. Gore did not himself predict this timeline.

  5. Climate Refugees: Gore predicted that there would be 1 billion climate refugees worldwide by the end of the century. However, this prediction lacks concrete evidence and has been disputed by some experts.

  6. Temperature Increase: Gore predicted that the Earth’s average temperature would increase by “many degrees” if the amount of carbon in the atmosphere doubled. However, scientists have projected a more moderate increase of up to 2.9°C (5.2°F) above pre-industrial levels by 2100 when carbon dioxide levels are expected to double.

  7. Extreme Weather: Gore warned about the increase in extreme weather events, such as stronger storms. However, some experts have disputed this claim, citing a slight downward trend in tropical storm activity over the last 30 years.

It’s essential to note that climate change is a complex and dynamic issue, and predictions can be influenced by various factors, including modeling uncertainties, data limitations, and the pace of societal responses. While some of Gore’s predictions have been disputed or proven incorrect, his overall message about the urgent need for climate action remains relevant and widely supported by the scientific community."

So very few, if any, of the predictions proved correct (up to the period 2024). There is also another site AgWeb which does a great job of summarising all the failed predictions:

and noting that as global warming is not happening, the latest disaster predictions are now called Climate Change, which of course is happening all the time.

Here is the pdf of the YIF talk:

My view is that we have a loving father in "heaven" / paradise and will not us be destroyed by Al Gore's predictions.

Here is a great summary of failed predictions:
