I have just finished watching the brilliant TV series Dark - 3 seasons / 28 episodes.
The story line is complex and involves time travel. It shows how the past, present and future are linked. Of course, we had to wait until season 3 to begin to figure out the time travel "puzzle" behind the apocalypse and the black goo.
And in the last episode we had the big reveal about the time travelling conundrum underlying the series.
The central characters are Jonas and Martha - who later become Adam and Eva. Without giving too much away, they discover that they are on a timeline infinity loop:
The timeline of the two worlds resets back at the "apocalypse" - so despite everyones best efforts, their worlds of endless suffering continues time after time. Adam talks about finding the origin, eliminating it and moving out of the suffering worlds to enter Paradise but they never get there - until the last episode!.
Without giving too much away, the origin is not in the two worlds, but in a third world. When this was cleared, they were able to finally free themselves from the suffering worlds that were being endless repeated.
This reminded me of the teaching of Buddha - we endless re-incarnate in the worlds of samara (the suffering worlds). Liberation is freeing your self from the matrix and entering the place of "Enlightenment" - which is what I think Jesus meant by finding the Kingdom - the Kingdom within.
This will be the subject of my next talk for u3a (year 9).
