The last judge by Michelangelo in the Sistine chapel is a master piece that for me always takes my breath away at the sheer scale of this painting.
From a board in Vatican city (as photos are not allowed in the chapel itself) - but you really need top see the original in its full setting. The guide explained that the roof was painted by Michelangelo as a young man, but the final judgement was painted about 40 years later when Michelangelo was wiser and at the top of his powers. It is truly magnificent.
When I was there a few days ago seeing the fully restored painting with the lapis lazuli (very expensive - more expensive than gold! - glowing - I received a download of how it portrays the choice point of the great solar last perfected.
So in the centre there is Jesus, the son of man, experiencing the whirlwind vortex of souls being "sorted" at the choice point into those that ascend to "Heaven" or the paradise time line and those that chose to head to "Hell" or the 3d nightmare post=apocalypse survival world called the Armageddon timeline.
This is all explained in my book My Way Zen part 2 (which builds on the information in My Way Zen Part 1)
