So after a bit of a break we had another I Ching session to ask the Sage about the current situation - specifically to give advice on how to navigate through all the mis information and how to discern the truth.
The reply was Hexagram 48 - The Well
Reading the various books on the hexagrams, we settled on the following phrase from Ricard Wilhelms' classic translation:
"The well from which water is drawn conveys inexhaustible dispensing of nourishment"
"Draw from the well spring of the divine in mans nature."
So the advice is to go deep within to the well inside, to reveal your truth.
