After driving to a number of places which had limited access to the river, I finally found a spot near a village called Arram. There had been a sudden thunderstorm earlier in the day when I was at Hempholme, so I walked up the track to the river quickly to avoid another thunderstorm. But I need not have worried as it was a beautiful sunny evening.
It seems that a lot of the farmers in the area did not want walkers, but there was a bridle way down to the river, so I managed to get access and set up next to the river to bless it to wake up the people of East Yorkshire, including the people of the city of Kingston upon Hull, to give the city its full title.
